Ayutthaya & Bangkok (Central Thailand)

After reluctantly leaving Koh Pha Ngan we took the over night train from Surat Thani to Bangkok where we would spend a few days before flying home. Whilst in Bangkok we decided to head over to Ayutthaya for the day. Ayutthaya was the capital of Thailand before Bangkok and has a lot of history. Most of the temples have been damaged during previous battles but the ruins are impressive. We took a two hour train to get there costing a grand total of 60p each!! We hired a scooter and had an excellent day trying to cram in as much as we could.

Ayutthaya

Most of the Buddha statues have heads missing. A result of previous battles with the Burmese.

Ayutthaya style transport!

Whilst walking around we were approached and interviewed by a group of girls who wanted to practise their English.

After a long fun-filled day we jumped back on the train exhausted and headed back to Bangkok.

A very drunken last night

Where we met some cool Aussies

Me looking very orange and extremely drunk. I don't remember this photo been taken or getting home that night and god knows who's glasses I'm wearing. What I do remember is having to travel 9000 miles the following day with a hangover from hell!!

We didn't get to even half the places we had originally planned but we had an amazing time, better than we could have wished for and plan to cover the rest next time round.
Until then Hasta la Vista Baby!!
